The Denmark Machinery Restoration Group came into being in 2008. A bunch of cheerful machinery enthusiasts got together to share their love of all things mechanical and it just grew from there.
With funding from Lotterywest and Western Power and a peppercorn Lease from the Shire, a shed was built in 2010 (by the members) on the Denmark Historic Railway Precinct site, It was quickly filled with lovingly collected and restored tractors, cars, engines, farm machinery. And anything that epitomised the vibe of classic machinery!
The Shed was enlarged to include a Steam Room to house a diesel fired boiler and future steam machinery.
Then in 2015 an extension of a dedicated workshop area was added, then a forge for our budding blacksmiths.
By 2018 the collection of large machines was becoming a problem with nowhere to house them. So again, with funding this time from Federal Government and generous “top-ups’ from members, another Shed was designed and erected (again by the members).
And that’s about where we are now. But Watch This Space, We ain’t finished yet! The first built shed is now dedicated to be the Trackside Museum to proudly display our handiwork. And we are currently designing and making informative and education displays.
